Thanks,
As for the ASP model - if you're a organisation big enough, you can ask the provider to install the application in your environment, and that's a perfectly reasonable request.

For me, yourclients.co.uk is a good way of advertising and helping smaller organisations without appropriate Solution Implementation budget.

Cool, insightful prose. ASP models are strong, but the real issue at hand is 'Trust' as bussiness decides who will manage their information and more in the digital age.

Hi Marcin,

This is great news for Peter. And wonderful news for you also. I can imagine the cool factor when you tell people that one of your client was featured on Dragons' Den and *you* developed their website.

We in Canada are waiting for CBC to launch Dragons' Den on Oct 4th. I am looking forward to other entrepreneurs and website designers to report similar "Dragons' Den effect".

There is the official "unofficial" CBC Dragons' Den website. And I think this is an advancement (or at least a different approach taken) on what BBC is doing.

Keep up the great work. I can't wait to watch eps 7!!! Now that I you developed Peter's website.

Estimation is a very difficult skill to master. I have to agree with Mike that it takes quite a bit to be able to properly estimate most projects. I actually had an article a little while ago related to the topic called <a href="http://www.retrospector.com/2006/07/10/estimating-projects/" rel="nofollow">Estimating Projects</a> that hits more on why experience is probably the most key point to being able to accurately estimate how long things take.

Yes, developers' estimates are always wrong, usually by the factor of 2.5x :-)

Very interesting perpective. I think the problem goes a little deeper, though, incorporating things like the developer's desire to please or seem fast, and a generally optimistic outlook that forgets things like "debugging" and "testing." :)

True - I'd be grateful for a linux/windows tool which would FTP somewhere and grab the latest file versions to the local machine, and for a similar tool for the database as well.

I haven't found anything like it yet, but I'll keep looking.
